Film Festival 2012: the winners to favorites

Golden Lion for "Pieta," a thriller from Kim Ki-duk, Silver Lion for "The Master", Paul Thomas Anderson, who also gets two Best Actor. And the best scenario for Assayas. In short, a record without much surprise. PTA, AA or KKK? In other words, Paul Thomas Anderson, Kim Ki-duk or Olivier Assayas? They were the favorites. Good prognosis (for once) all have a price. The jury, chaired by Michael Mann has awarded the Golden Lion at the South Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-duk, for his thriller primitive and Baroque Pieta, where a young thug how sadistic and cynical covers a part of humanity through the mysterious reappearance of a previously absent mother. The film is a violence both crude and grotesque, a lot of noise (string, drill, beating ...), combines cries and tears. We found, in our case, an excessively primitive uninspired, repetitive, heavy symbols, oedipal and religious. The second half, with its series of twists and turns, is better. But hey, there, to give him the Golden Lion ...
For prices interpretations given to tie Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix, tandem polysemous (guru / follower, teacher / student, father / son ...) The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson (who gets the Lion silver for Best Director), a priori, nothing to say, even those who were choosy before the film is in agreement that the actors were amazing. A Assayas returns the best screenplay, we like to see at a glance, in memory of his father, who was the screenwriter for film and television in the 50s and 60s, and the author suggests a time in this intimate evocation of the post-sixty-eighters. Finally, the price Orizzonti to Three Sisters Wang seems justified, even if we did not see everything in this section. But this documentary diving in the remote countryside, wet and muddy in Yunnan, where we follow the grueling everyday life of poor children surviving alongside pigs and collecting potatoes what sticker shock. After entering the agony of an industrial complex (the west rail), Wang shows that part of rurality is also, left to itself. A film when Wang on the tertiary sector?
